Prior to completing the application for the Paralee George Scholarship please be sure that you meet ALL guidelines and qualifications for the Paralee George Scholarship.  Failure to meet guidelines and qualifications will disqualify your scholarship application.

Purpose

Encourage and assist high school students in continuing their education at an accredited institution of higher learning, be it technical,

vocational (curriculum must be one year in duration) or a college accredited by the governing board of regents per jurisdiction. 

Guidelines

 

  • Individual must be an active member of Clarkston First Baptist Church for at least two years.

  • All new applicants must submit proof of enrollment and a class schedule in the sought institution before receiving any distribution of funds.

  • All returning students must submit a copy of their transcript and class schedule for the next semester before receiving any distribution of funds.

  • All recipients are required to volunteer a minimum of 10 documented hours per semester on a church assignment project approved by the Scholarship Committee or Pastor. 

  • Volunteer service outside of Clarkston First Baptist Church MUST be to scholarship committee by the scholarship deadline of the semester being applied for.

  • In order to receive further assistance, after completing one quarter/semester of study, recipient must maintain at least a 2.5 (C+) grade point average.

  • Scholarship applications must be submitted to the Scholarship Committee by July 31 for the fall semester and by December 31 for the spring semester of each year.  Summer awards are not granted.  The Deacon Board shall serve as the Scholarship Committee in the absence of a formed Scholarship Committee.

  • All applicants must have a high school diploma or a GED equivalent certificate.

  • All students enrolled as a freshman MUST complete College Readiness workshops provided by Clarkston First Baptist Church (dates will be provided on when these workshops will be offered)               

Fund Distribution

Full time students (12 credit hours minimum):

Scholarships will be disbursed as follows:  $250.00 per semester (fall and spring only).  The maximum amount granted per year is $500.00.

Part-time students and adults are ineligible.
